Wastewater Treatment - Chemical Feed
Wastewater chemical feed is concerned with the design of systems or equipment for the control and metering of chemicals for wastewater treatment or process control. Several stages in the treatment of wastewater and wastewater sludge use chemicals in liquid or dry form, and Siemens offers a range of chemical feed products, from liquid chemical feed systems to residual analyzers, to treat wastewater.

Most chemical feed is focused around metering pumps of some type and the injection of a liquid chemical.  Typical applications are for the disinfection of treated wastewater, pH adjustment of water, solids removal or turbidity control, sludge conditioning and dewatering, odor control, or heavy metals precipitation.

Siemens is an industry pioneer in chlorination and other chemical and chemical feed technologies. Our lineup of processes and products includes:

  • Chlorination and dechlorination systems
  • Odor control chemical injection systems
  • Chemical pH adjustment systems
  • Chemical Feeders
  • Chemical Pumps
  • Monitoring systems

Siemens also provides pilot treatment systems and analytical testing to document the efficacy of chemical treatment prior to installation.

Case Study: New Polymer Feed System Provides Efficient Polymer Activation For Less Capital Outlay, Smaller Footprint

The 1.5 million gallons per day (MGD) West Carrollton Wastewater Treatment Plant in West Carrollton, Ohio came on-line in 1989 and today serves 12,000 area residents. The activated sludge facility produces an average of 200 wet tons/month of sludge that, following belt filter press dewatering, is spread on area farmland by a biosolids management company. Polymer is added to the sludge prior to belt press dewatering to aid in liquid-solid separation.
