Drinking Water Treatment – Potable Water Treatment
Water utilities must meet specific government standards for the quality of the water they produce and pipe to customers. These standards  require minimum / maximum set points of contaminants and the inclusion of control elements that produce drinking water.

The goal of the water treatment process is to produce is to produce water for human consumption. Water purification may remove: particulates like sand, grit and suspended particles of organic matter, parasites, minerals and toxic metals. To reduce the risk of re-contamination while the water is in the distribution system, treatment plants are sometimes required to maintain specific amounts of disinfectant (chlorine or ozone) in the water after it leaves the water treatment plant.

Siemens Water Technologies is a world leader in technologies and services for all phases of drinking water treatment. Some of our capabilities:

  • Pre-treatment
  • Pumping
  • Flocculation and clarification
  • Filtration
  • Disinfection
  • Analysis and controls

Siemens also provides pilot treatment systems and analytical testing to document the efficacy of treatment prior to installation. We also provide parts and service on all of our equipment, as well as equipment which may have been provided by other manufacturers.

Membranes Solve Taste, Odor and Turbidity Problems on a Fast Track Schedule

The North Clackamas County Water Commission (NCCWC) is made up of the Sunrise Water Authority, Oak Lodge Water District and the City of Gladstone. The Commission owns and operates a 10 mgd slow sand filtration plant in Oregon City, OR that treats Clackamas River water.
The existing plant operated well under most water quality conditions; however, when turbidity levels reached 10 NTU, the plant was shut down and the Commission was required to purchase additional water from a neighboring agency to meet their demands.

The MEMCOR® CS submerged membrane system was selected by the Sunrise Water Authority as the most cost-effective solution to meet water quality needs In less than 18 months; MWH and Siemens designed and delivered a 10 mgd low-pressure membrane water treatment plant that addressed all water quality concerns.
