10/15/2007|Siemens cooperates with inge AG in membrane technology
Siemens Water Technologies, a Division of the Siemens Industrial Solutions and Services Group (I&S), and inge AG in Greifenberg, Germany have entered into a cooperation agreement to supply and distribute ultrafilter membrane modules. Siemens will have exclusive rights to distribute the patented water treatment modules of inge AG in the Americas, in Australia, New Zealand and in the United Kingdom. With its existing product line and the dizzer modules of inge AG, Siemens will thus have the most comprehensive range of products for water treatment in the world.

Siemens Water Technologies announces the opening of its new Global Water Research and Development Center at PUB´s The WaterHub building in Singapore. Dr. Ruediger Knauf has been named Director and will oversee the Siemens research and development activities in the region. This is the first step toward the company´s previously announced EUR 25 million investment in water technology research and product development in the Asia-Pacific region.

04/24/2007|Siemens Introduces the Innovative S3 System Technology for Pharmaceutical Water Treatment Systems
Siemens Water Technologies offers an innovative proprietary process that reduces the amount of energy and water consumed, and the wastewater generated, by a pharmaceutical water purification system. The S3 System Technology achieves these benefits by shutting down the make-up water system during periods of non use, so that it does not continuously recirculate the make-up water. Any size application will realize energy and water savings from the S3 System; however, applications with higher flow rates and redundant process trains, and in areas where utility costs are high, will benefit most.

A leading pharmaceutical company has chosen Siemens Water Technologies to supply a turnkey USP (United States Pharmacopoeia) Purified Water system upgrade for its biotechnology laboratory in Puerto Rico. The company is adding an additional system to the two systems already supplied by Siemens in 2003. The one point one million dollar project will begin operation in April 2007.

Siemens Water Technologies has introduced the stand-alone Total-check 900 in-line TOC monitor. The monitor can be connected to any high-purity water laboratory system to provide an accurate measurement of product water TOC (total organic carbon) levels from 1 to 999 ppb (parts per billion) with repeatability of ±5% and accuracy of ±1 ppb. Available in North America and Europe, it is designed for laboratory personnel who need to measure the TOC in high-purity water produced by systems that do not feature a built-in monitor.

03/08/2007|New Dry Polymer Feed System From Siemens Maximizes Polymer Activation
The PolyBlend DP110 Dry Polymer Feed System is the new integrated sequential batch, continuous feed system from Siemens Water Technologies. It replaces the existing DP105 system and uses the same blending technology as its predecessor but at almost half the size. The DP110 system's smaller footprint makes it ideal for replacement and retrofit applications in water and wastewater treatment plants sized up to 38,000 metric tons/day (10 MGD) at a 1 mg/l dosage rate.

Siemens' Industrial Solutions and Services Group (I&S) has supplied the design and equipment for a purifying plant that removes nitrogen (nitrification/ denitrification) from wastewater arising in the course of the manufacture of pharmaceutical products. This plant is located in Wuming, South China, and is operated by Degussa Rexim (Nanning) Pharmaceutical Co. Ltd., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Degussa (China) Co. Ltd. The scope of delivery by the I&S Water Technologies Division also includes the electrical equipment, instrumentation, and automation systems.

By acquiring four companies in the U.S., Siemens Water Technologies has made a valuable addition to its service business and supplemented its product portfolio for disinfection and ultra-pure water solutions. "We are implementing our strategy of using specific acquisitions to supplement our range of technological products and improve the service we provide close to the customer", said Roger Radke, CEO of the Water Technologies Division, which is part of the Siemens Industrial Solutions and Services Group (I&S). In the U.S. Siemens has taken over four companies Envirotrol, CEC, Ultrapure Solutions and Sunlight Systems with total sales of 25 million USD.

12/14/2006|Siemens invests EUR 25 million to expand its Singapore location to become the center for water and wastewater technologies in Asia
With investments of EUR 25 million, technology transfers, and research and development projects, Siemens is expanding its Singapore location within the next five years into a competence center for water and wastewater technologies in the Asia-Pacific region. Roger Radke, Head of the Water Technologies Division in Siemens' Industrial Solutions and Services (I&S) Group, said to the press in Singapore, "The natural water resources in Asian countries are inadequate to ensure the further development of industry and communities. Water treatment and recycling technologies are essential prerequisites for continuing growth and prosperity in Asia." Siemens signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with PUB, Singapore's national water agency for collaboration in R& D projects in water and used water treatment.
