Ecoflash Dryer

The Siemens Thin Layer Dryer (Ecoflash) is designed to allow for heat drying using a thermal transfer fluid (hot oil) or saturated steam.

Inside the drying chamber, a rotor equipped with adjustable pitch blades operates at a circular speed of 30 m/s. The wet biosolids are fed into the drying chamber by a dosing unit (metering pump) and centrifuged by the rotor, in a thin film layer, onto the drying chamber wall.

The blades of the rotor move the biosolids through the process in a dynamic and turbulent action creating an energy efficient evaporation process. The evaporated water is removed from the dryer by a counter current of air that also aids in cooling the dried biosolids prior to discharge from the Ecoflash.

The drying process is a one pass continuous operation without dried product recycling (back mixing).
