Siemens Water Technologies Makes Arsenic Treatment Simple!

In January 2006, the EPA limit on arsenic levels in public drinking water was reduced to 10 ppb. Are you compliant?

Solving your treatment and compliance issues doesn’t need to be difficult. With Siemens Water Technologies as your equipment and service partner, the answers are simple as A-B-C.

Systems - Built Right

Siemens systems are designed for ease of installation, operation, maintenance and media replacement.  We offer standard systems in 14" and 36" vessel diameters, with manual valves and controls and simple to operate monitor flow rotometers and pressure indicators.  Since the sytem requires no electrical utility supply, installation costs are greatly reduced.  For your convenience, we also offer options for digital flow measurement, differential pressure indicators and remote monitoring equipment.

Our arsenic removal systems are designed for ease of loading and removal of media.  Small vessels are simply removed from service and taken away from the site and replaced with new units containing fresh media.  Larger vessels include sluice ports to facilitiate easy and mess-free removal and reinstallation of media.  Unlike other system designs, ours does not require disassembly of plumbing, removal of control valve heads and access around pipe risers and lateral distributorss to remove or replace the media.  Since the exchange can be done quickly, downtime is greatly reduced.

Siemens systems are offered in both lead/lag and parallel configurations.  We believe there are some important benefits for considering the lead/lag formation over the parallel.  When in series (lead/lag), the operator can better monitor breakthrough of the media bed by periodically measuring arsenic levels in the middle of the system.  And, this design alls for thorough exhaustion of the lead media to greater than 50% of the incoming level.  This is in comparison to the parallel arrangement, which requires all media to be replaced when arsenic is passed at the 10 ppb level.  In particular, some State regulations also require the lead/lag design.

Media -The Right Product to Meet Your Particular Needs

The selection of a specific media is dependent upon water quality and the volume to be treated.  Siemens offers and recomends several medias for the reduciton of arsenic, including GFH® Granular Ferric Hydroxide, iron-based resins.  We also provide tailored carbons and titanium-based products.  All medias recommended by Siemens are NSF 61-certified.

Service - Keep You System Operating at Peak Performance, Extend Life

Water system monitoring and maintenance are vital parts of the total package that USFilter offers our customers.

Once the media reaches the end of it's useful life, a sample of the "spent" media is analyzed using standard Toxicity Leachable Procedure (TCLP), which tests for hazardous chemicals and metals in the media.  Once the media has be tested and is characterized as non-hazardous materials, it can be disposed of in a landfill.  In some cases, heavy loading of arsenic and other trace toxic contaminants may cause the media to fail TCLP.  When this happens, the media is labeled as hazardous and is manifested to Siemens' RCRA-permitted processing facility in Roseville, Minnesota.  Siemens is an approved transporter of hazardous waste and our ion exchange vessels are approved as transportable hazardous waste vessels by the Department of Transportation (DOT).

Siemens' factory trained technicians can help you reduce the life cycle costs of your water system and stay within your operating budget.  We have over 85 local service branches throughout the US and Canada to provide the services you need where and most importantly, when you need us.  Our strategically located service branches are positioned to reach greater than 85% of the US population within 2 hours of less.
