Manganese Removal with Manganese ANTHRA/SAND™ Media

Manganese ANTHRA/SAND media is formed by placing a manganese oxide coating on granular media to enhance manganese removal. Coating is applied in the field and can be reapplied if needed. Continuous feed of oxidant maintains the coating on the media.

Manganese ANTHRA/SAND media allows you to…

  • Effectively remove manganese from water supplies
  • Reduce capital cost compared to manganese greensand media
  • Operate with lower differential pressure saving pumping cost
  • Directly replace manganese greensand media on existing systems
  •  Select the right media size for the application

Features and Benefits

Features:

  • Granular media oxide coated to improve manganese removal
  • In-situ coating process
  • Larger media size reduces operating headloss
  • Multiple media sources

Benefits:

  • Allows proper media selection
  • Improves effluent quality
  • Reduced cost
  • Recoating in field possible
  • Longer filter run time
  • Less backwash waste
  • Reduced pumping cost
  • Reduced capital cost

Manganese ANTHRA/SAND is formed by applying a coating to granular filter media.  A 24 hour process fixes an oxide coating to the media grains similar to a "natural greensand effect" except in a much shorter time.  The media can be installed in any of our filtration systems used for iron, manganese and arsenic removal.  Over 225 full-scale installations prove the performance.  Pilot trial equipment is available to test your specific water conditions.
