Wastewater flows into the MARD unit through a central located inlet pipe and over a stationary weir into a rotating tub assembly. The depth of water in the rotating tub will force the water out into the distribution arms. Large non-clogging orifices on the top side of the arms distribute the wastewater proportionally along the length of the arm. Wastewater flows off of the back of the arms onto the filter media. The drive motor is connected to a VFD to control the distributor speed. 64 units have been supplied since 1990. Installations range from 14 feet (4.3 m) to 175 feet (53.3 m) diameter. Installation flow ranges from 28 gpm (6 m3/hr) to 45,000 gpm (10,225 m3/hr).
