| The flexible SFC devices from Siemens Water Technologies constitute a new measuring and controlling series which complements the concept of the multi-functional MFC system. The SFC series is intended for single measurements of water parameters as is necessary in simple applications. One main function is controlled chemical dosing which is used when disinfectant has to be added, for example. The series of devices matches the MFC system not only in terms of design and dimensions but also in terms of the range of functions. The two types of device are based on the same software and can therefore be combined and communicate with each other via a CAN bus.

| The Siemens Industry Solutions Division (IS) has received an order from Albert Köhler GmbH & Co. KG in Gengenbach, Germany, to install a membrane bioreactor plant with downstream reverse osmosis for wastewater treatment. This means the German board producer will be the first company in the world to have such a capability at its disposal. The system will enable almost all the process water to be reused and will reduce the volume of wastewater by some 90 per cent. Not only that: the Siemens solution will reduce the need for process steam and thus cut energy costs. The new wastewater treatment plant is due to be commissioned as soon as the spring of 2008.

| The Siemens Industrial Solutions and Services Group has been contracted by the Austrian corrugating base producer Mondi Packaging Frohnleiten GmbH to extend the company's wastewater treatment plant. A fiber extraction and anaerobic pre-stage from the “Sipaper Water” line will be integrated into the existing cleaning circuit. This will allow the processing of approximately 3,600 m3/d of wastewater with a COD (chemical oxygen demand) load of 20 tons. What's more, up to 6,400 m3/d of biogas will be produced for power generation in the facility. CO2 emissions will thus be reduced considerably by the utilization of biogas and the lower power consumption of the new wastewater treatment plant. The value of the project amounts to some two million euros, and the project is scheduled to come on stream in April 2008.
