The BIOPAQ® UASB process converts organic compounds anaerobically, primarily to methane and carbon dioxide.
The BIOPAQ® UASB Reactor uses the Upflow Anaerobic Sludge Blanket (UASB) treatment concept whereby a dense blanket of granular anaerobic biomass is employed to bring about the conversion of organic compounds that are passed through the sludge blanket on a continuous basis. Typical conversion rates lie in the 8-12 kg COD/m3.d range. Biogas produced from the liquid effluent phase is separated and collected at the top of the reactor.  View Diagram of Process
