Caring Hands Projects

As part of the company's World Water Day efforts, Siemens Water Technologies started an annual employee Caring Hands project to fund water treatment systems for developing countries.  Each year, the company selects projects to support.

2009 Project - Tibet
The funds donated by employees and matched by Siemens will fund two safe water treatment systems.  The first project, commissioned in August 2009, is in a remote, rural area in Tibet - 1000 kms from the capital Lhasa.  A second project is underway in rural China.  Both projects will provide safe potable water to people who had no choice but to obtain water from an unprotected water source.

2008 Project - Timor Leste
The World Water Day projects have resulted in outstanding outcomes for the people of Timor-Leste. Two separate projects were commissioned in August 2008. Both provided safe potable water to desperately needy people who currently had no access to safe pure water.  The Hope Community Orphanage located in Gleno has 36 children. Also the Bairo Pite Clinic in Dili services over 300 people daily. The project in conjunction with the SkyJuice Foundation installed two complete water plants which are now fully functional.
