Diablo Grande Winery and Resort - Patterson, CA

Challenge

The developers of the Diablo Grande Winery and Resort required a temporary potable water treatment system while a five million dollar drinking water plant was being constructed.  The schedule for the completion of the plant was estimated at 12-16 months.

Solution

Siemens Water Technologies' ability to provide short-term water treatment to the construction site was critical to the developer's schedule.  Temporary service allowed the customer to continue selling residential lots while the permanent system was being constructed.  It also permitted other key resort projects - such as the hotel, winery and golf courses - to stay on plan.

The California Aqueduct was the source of water for this construction site.  Siemens recommended a mobile treatment system using clarification followed by filtration, polishing, chlorination, storage and distribution.  The mobile clarification system is a self-contained, trailer-mounted unit that treats water with high turbidity, high total organic carbon (TOC), algae or very cold water.

This treatment design met the California Department of Health Services standards for NTU, TDS and chlorination of potable water.

Results

Siemens Water Technologies was the only provider able to meet the potable drinking water standards set by the California Department of Health Services.  The use of mobile equipment enabled the delivery and installation within a short delivery schedule.
