Water clarification and filtration are central to the treatment of source water for drinking water applications.  Siemens Water Technologies offers a diverse line of products to help engineers and operators create successful solutions for drinking water systems.

Drinking Water Clarification and Filtration

Water treatment plants have been purifying water through clarification and filtration for over 100 years.  In that time, the processes of clarification and filtration have been the subject of countless innovations.  Siemens Water Technologies has contributed to this innovation, and continues to offer both conventional and cutting-edge technologies for clarification and filtration of drinking water sources.

Innovative clarifiers, such as the CONTRAFAST® and Trident® HSR, use next generation technologies to achieve settling rates 5-10 times that of conventional clarifiers.  The CONTRAFLO® solids-contact clarifier has been the industry standard for over fifty years.

Our Memcor® ultrafiltration systems provide the experience and knowledge of one of the fore-runners of membrane filtration systems for drinking water.  Our CenTROL® LP system provides gravity filtration for systems from 2-30 MGD (or more) in an innovative arrangement that eliminates pipe galleries and backwash pumps.

The Microfloc division of Siemens Water Technologies invented package treatment systems by combining high-rate clarification with innovative filtration technologies.  Our Trident® HS is the latest in a line of revolutionary products combining clarification and filtration in a single tank.

Drinking Water Clarification and Filtration Case Study

Trident® System Replaces Aging Water Treatment Plant to Meet New Regulations

The City of Hudson, New York had aging slow-sand and diatomaceous earth (DE) filter systems which had been struggling to meet effluent water quality treatment goals.  Total organic carbon (TOC), disinfection by-product precursors and turbidity reduction were the key problem areas.  Turbidity spikes were caused by the DE filters failing periodically and in addition Haloacetic Acid and Total Trihaolomethane exceeded regulatory limits.
