Siemens Water Technologies Uses Proprietary Software Program to Provide Solutions for Industrial Water Treatment

Challenge

Many projects have unique requirements based on different water conditions. Many sites look at reclamation, adding an RO reject bring concentrator for wastewater reduction or making other equipment or process changes to enhance their overall process.

Solution

The WinCPD® software, developed by Siemens Water Technologies, mathematically models industrial water treatment equipment up to and including the first mixed bed.  This software is utilized to review several different solutions quickly to see the impact of the various changes to the water quality, operating cost (a separate calculation), and system throughput by looking at various options such as:

  • Operating temperature
  • Brine RO to recover some of the RO reject
  • Caustic injection within RO systems
  • Different membranes within an RO
  • Different resin ratios in the ion exchange equipment
  • Use of degasification equipment


Results

Working directly with customer’s process engineers, we have been able to optimize their system either from the beginning of the initial system design to optimizing current systems operated by Siemens.  By performing this review with the customer, not only do they see the impact on their system, they also gain a greater understanding of the support tools Siemens Water Technologies has to offer.
