Salinas Valley State Prison Requires Mobile RO

Challenge

Water samples from the Salinas Valley State Prison found that the ground water supply had total dissolved solids (TDS) and nitrate levels well above the Potable Drinking Water Standards.

Solution

The Salinas Valley State Prison in Soledad, California needed to reduce the TDS and remove nitrate from the facility's potable water supply.  Siemens Water Technologies, formerly USFilter, was contacted after a referral from the California Department of Health and Safety for possible treatment options.

Siemens supplied a mobile reverse osmosis system with four FlexRO® units to help meet the water specifications set by the state.  Siemens also developed an automatic blending valve purposely to blend the RO permeate with the well water to meet the desired water quality.

Results

Siemens Water Technologies was able to meet the one-week delivery and start up time for the Salinas Valley State Prison.  The project included round-the-clock scheduled service and responsibility for the system for one year.
