Toxic gases such as chlorine, sulfer dioxide and ammonia are commonly used for water and wastewater treatment, and in many fabrication processes.

The Uniform Fire Code Article 80 establishes strict standards for storing and handling toxic gases.  Any facility that uses the gases must be prepared with a stand-by emergency scrubber system that will contain , absorb, and neutralize a release of the gas.  This scrubber must reduce toxic emisions to less than half of the Immediate Danger to Life and Health value.  In addition, the Clean Air Act Requires that any facility that stores toxic gas must prepare a Risk Management Plan (RMP.  An emergency vapor scrubber system is am essential component of an effective RMP.

Siemens offers a complete line of emergency vapor scrubbers.  Our systems have been rigorously tested bay a C.A.B.O (Council of Ameriacn Building Officials) certified labratory.  To date Siemens is the only company that has conducted a full-scale tests with actual one-ton gas realeases of chlorine gas.  Our scrubbers exceeded requirements, neutralizing the toxic gas while maintaining emmisions well below the 5 ppm UFC requirement.  A unique 38,000 cfm chlorine scrubber was also tested at release rates up to 300 lbs./min, with no emissions exceeding 1 ppm.

Packaged Chlorine Scrubber System Provides Safe Chlorination at Remote Wells in Southern California

The Rancho California Water District (RCWD) serves Temecula, Murrieta, and surrounding areas of Southern California.  The district is blessed with a large, natural underground water source.  Temecula Valley Aquifer supplies water from 52 wells. The area’s population has grown to 99,000 as a result of residential development of former cattle ranches.  Previously remote wells are now surrounded by densely populated communities.

Anticipating additional growth, RCWD approached RJ Environmental products looking for a way to chlorinate their wells and pump stations.
