Biogas Storage

The storage of biogas that is being generated from the anaerobic digestion process is one way that municipalities reduce energy costs and reduce the quantity of greenhouse gases being emitted to the atmosphere.

Spiral Guided Gas Holder

These gases can be used to generate electricity or dry biosolids as part of an efficient energy reuse program. Generally gas storage systems can pay for themselves from the saving generated by optimizing digester gas utilization.

Our digester systems hold biogas under pressure to help in the anaerobic digestion process of wastewater sludge.

Biogas Storage Technologies for Your Sludge and Bisolids Treatment Applications:

Sludge and Biosolids Processing Systems

Duo-Deck™ Floating Digester Cover
The Duo-Deck™, or exposed truss, digester cover design prevents the roof plate and structural components of the cover from coming in contact with the digester contents, thereby avoiding the related corrosive effects.

Dystor® Digester Gas Holder System
The Dystor® system is a digester gas holder design that uses a dome-shaped, engineered membrane system to store methane gas, provide for sludge storage and prevent odors.

Spiral Guided Digester Gas Holder
The Spiral Guided Digester Gas Holder rotates as it travels up and down and is suited for larger applications, typically up to 110 feet in diameter, or where unbalancing loads are probable.

Vertical Guided Digester Gas Holder
The PFT® Vertical Guided Gas Holders travel through vertical guides recessed on the rim skirt.

Biogas Storage Case Study

Dystor® Installation Increases Gas Storage Capacity, Resulting in Significant Cost Savings for the City of Eau Claire, WI

The Eau Claire, WI. facility’s secondary digester cover failed to provide adequate gas storage to allow use of the facility’s cogeneration facility for the five years since it had been installed.

The city requested Siemens Water Technologies remove and replace the existing ballasted fiberglass cover with a Dystor® membrane gas holder system. The solution also needed to provide 120 days of sludge storage due to the limited access to farmland for application of sludge during winter months.
