	Drinking Water Treatment – Membrane Filtration

Membrane filtration systems -in many configurations - are increasingly being used to treat drinking water. Water is passed through a thin membrane barrier in the form of hollow fiber or spiral-wound composite sheets. Organic and other contaminants are filtered and retained on the high-pressure side and frequently must be removed by reversing the flow and flushing the waste.

Siemens Water Technologies is a prime developer of innovative membrane technology. Our Memcor membrane group led the way in introducing membrane filtration to drinking water plants worldwide, and we continue to bring new membrane technology to the market place in order to reduce treatment costs and improve contaminant removal.
Our systems include:

Microfiltration membrane and ultrafiltration membrane systems
Ceramic ultrafiltration membrane systems
Submerged membrane filtration
Pre-engineered submerged packaged membrane and pressurized packaged membrane systems for small flows, remote locations, and satellite treatment

Siemens also provides pilot treatment systems and analytical testing to document the efficacy of treatment prior to installation. We also provide parts and service on all of our equipment, as well as equipment which may have been provided by other manufacturers.

Case Study: Packaged Membrane Filtration System Helps Town Meet Drinking Water Needs

Located in Northwest Colorado, the Town of Oak Creek is a modest-sized community with a diverse landscape of mountainous peaks and rolling ranch land. Anticipating the spring run-off season and the need to treat a wide range of raw water quality, the Town of Oak Creek developed a fast track, design-build schedule to find a solution to its drinking water needs.
The town's water treatment system was an antiquated 1920’s conventional water treatment plant, which had been updated sporadically over time, but was worn out. The town needed a new system that would be cost effective and easy to operate and maintain by one person.
