Wastewater Treatment – Oil & Grease Removal
Oil and grease are common contaminants in domestic sewage as well as certain types of industrial wastewaters.

Removing oil and grease is important because it is deleterious to the treatment plant’s effluent, and it can clog and reduce the performance of filters and other treatment equipment. Oil and grease are more often found in wastewaters from food processing plants, restaurants, and other places discharging effluent with high grease or oil content.

Siemens has expertise in dealing with oil and grease in wastewater.  Our products and services include:

  • Separators
  • Thickeners
  • Special filtration technologies
  • Other treatment processes

We also are a leader in transportation and off-site treatment of oily wastewaters and used oil, and the recovery of oil for reuse.

Case Study: Vegetable Oil Residue Treated with OmniFlo SBR

International - Matex Tank Terminal (IMTT) needed to treat vegetable oil residue from product spills, tank washings and dock runoff.  Before installing the OMNIFLO® Sequencing Batch Reactor, IMTT used an offsite treatment process.  With the containments of concern, vegetable oil (with soluble and insoluble components), the most efficient and cost effective treatment to remove these components was with pretreatment via an oil/water separator and a induced air flotation system to remove insoluble components and bacteria or aerobic treatment to remove soluble components.
