Wastewater Treatment – Dissolved Solids Treatment
Dissolved solids in wastewater are often contained in industrial plant discharges, and can be difficult to treat.  Reverse osmosis is the most common method for removing these contaminants from the wastewater stream. Other dissolved solids treatment methods include chemical precipitation and ion exchange.

Siemens has deep experience in applying reverse osmosis technology to water and waste treatment. We are a leader in high-purity water systems which provide pharmaceutical, food, beverage and other producers with the purest water possible.

We also supply chemical addition systems and ion exchange.
Our service group can supply mobile units for temporary on-site reverse osmosis treatment at client sites.

Case Study: Nevada Goldfields' Wastewater Treatment System Uses Reverse Osmosis and Ion Exchange to Meet Stringent Metal Limits

In order to expand operations and maintain a water balance in South Carolina’s wet climate, Nevada Goldfields’ Barite Hills gold mining operation required a treatment plant to handle its wastewater.  At this mining site, the company extracts gold from soil using a high pH cyanide leaching solution. The process generated large volumes of cyanide and metal laden wastewater, which they had been storing on-site.  Nevada Goldfields needed to reduce the levels of many heavy metals to the part per billion (ppb) range.
