Odorous compounds can permeate residential neighborhoods and affect the health and the overall working environment for publicly owned treatment works (POTW) personnel. In addition, some of the acidic gases present can severely corrode equipment and concrete. For these reasons, odor control is becoming more of a necessity and less of a nicety.
