Refinery, Australia

  • Identified flow reductions of 40 percent, resulting in lower capital expenditures for new WWTP
  • Bench study nitrification/denitrification kinetics
  • Pilot test liquid/liquid hydrocyclone on desalter water for oil/water separation
  • Hydrocarbon loss control

Refinery, Louisiana, United States

  • Benzene NESHAP (National Elimination Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants) compliance, identified benzene reductions of approximately 90 percent
  • Developed RCRA (Resources Conservation and Recovery Act) impoundment closure plans

Plastics Company

  • Determined acrylonitrile and Styrene balance (losses) for SARA (Super Fund Amendments and Reauthorization Act) reporting – 88 percent and 39 percent reduction of calculated losses – minimized VOC (volatile organic compounds) emissions
  • Source stream control, recycle and reuse of intermediate wastewater streams
  • Determined plant effluent to be 25 percent less than historical value reported to EPA for five  to seven years, leading to lower capital expenditures for filtration plant

  • Source control leading to benzene reductions and compliance at aeration basin of < 0.5 ppm
  • Source control of coke fines to minimize hazardous wastes generation
  • Developed water recycle and reuse options leading to more than 750 gpm wastewater reduction through source stream reuse
  •  WWTP performance evaluation and optimization

Chemical Plant, Belgium

  • Existing WWTP near capacity, identified organic load reductions of approximately 45 percent, primarily MeOH

E&P Facilities, Major Alaskan and South American Oilfields

  • Pilot test of desanding hydrocyclones at wellheads
  • Developed recycle and reuse of sanitary effluent for process uses
  • Developed methods for the treatment and disposal of drill fluids and cutting
  • Developed zero discharge of liquids at remote exploration and production sites
