Challenge

The Tipton, Indiana, Wastewater Treatment Plant needed to pump return activated sludge and wastewater to final filtration.

Solution

They chose screw pumps from USFilter Zimpro Systems to meet their needs.

The 30-inch diameter screw pumps occupy two pumping stations. The two RAS pumps were started up in 1980, and the three final filtration pumps about a year later.

Result

The pumps have performed well - low-maintenance and trouble-free. And the plant has been awarded a Zimpro plant excellence award, as well as a US EPA award for medium-sized plants. The plant has also garnered several Indiana Water Pollution Control Association safety and laboratory awards.
