Matthew Knight has been named Senior Vice President of Sales for Siemens Water Technologies, Warrendale, Pennsylvania, a business unit of the Siemens Industry Solutions Division (IS). 09/29/2008|Siemens’ Disc Filter Receives Title 22 Approval
Siemens Water Technologies’ Forty-X disc filter is now compliant with the State of California Water Recycling Criteria (Title 22). As a result, the disc filter is an accepted filtration technology for projects that require Title 22 certification. More and more territories and countries are beginning to adopt Title 22 as an industry standard.

11/08/2007|Siemens to Provide Kuwaiti Wastewater Treatment Plant with BioFlowsheet+ Solution
Siemens Water Technologies will provide a high-performance nutrient removal system for the 180 mld (47.5 mgd) Kubd wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) located outside of Kuwait City, Kuwait. The solution, which is based on Siemens’ new biological process optimization program – BioFlowsheet+ Solutions, will help the WWTP meet required effluent levels. Siemens signed the contract for about 5.2 million euro ($7.4m) with Kuwaiti contractor Mushrif Trading and Contracting Company of Kuwait City. The plant will be commissioned in 2010.

Siemens Water Technologies announced product enhancements to its Forty-X disc filter, formerly known as the Spider Disc Filter. The tertiary filter disc technology incorporates several new product improvements including a pressure-assisted seal, a trash-tolerant box design, and sliding tank covers.

Siemens Water Technologies expands its enhanced nutrient removal (ENR) capabilities with the new Centrol Filter System with denitrification enhancement. The filter enhancement allows municipalities to reduce nitrogen in wastewater to levels suitable for discharge into receiving water bodies.

The new steel field-erected Orbal multichannel oxidation ditch from Siemens Water Technologies has proven advantages over form-built, concrete-type treatment systems. An Orbal field-erected plant has a shorter concept-to-completion timeline, significantly lower capital costs, and a more flexible design with a smaller footprint. The multi-channel oxidation ditch also provides reduced operational costs throughout the system's life cycle. It is well-suited for conventional activated sludge, advanced secondary treatment, simultaneous nitrification-denitrification, biological phosphorous removal and stormwater treatment.

Through advanced Enhanced Nutrient Removal (ENR) equipment and processes, Siemens Water Technologies is helping facilities achieve healthier and safer nutrient discharge limits that meet ever-changing regulations. ENR, the process of lowering nitrogen, phosphorus and similar nutrients in wastewater to acceptable levels, can be achieved using a wide range of technologies and implementation options including retrofit of an existing plant to construction of a new facility.
