Filtration of Smaller Flows with Vertical Pressure Filters

Vertical Pressure Filters consist of a pressure vessel with an overdrain system for distribution of influent water and collection of backwash waste.

Vertical Pressure Filters allow you to...

  • Maintain system pressure through the treatment process
  • Eliminate backwash supply pumps
  • Utilize several media configurations
  • Isolate individual filtration vessels

Features and Benefits

Features:

  • Enclosed filtration system
  • Water only or air scour backwash
  • Underdrains can be joined
  • Multiple vessels in a single system possible

Benefits:

  • Line pressure maintained
  • Re-pumping after filtration eliminated
  • Provides most effective backwash for a specific system
  • Allows backwashing from in-service cells
  • Reduced backwash flow rate
  • Flexibility of operation

Vertical Pressure Filters provide granular media treatment in an enclosed pressure vessel.  Multiple vessels can be used to allow operating flexibility and backwashing from in-service cells.  Under 1 MGD (4 MLD), they are more economical than horizontal pressure filters.

Common applications include iron, manganese and arsenic removal from groundwater and industrial process water treatment.  Vessel design and manufacturing includes non-code or ASME code with stamp for a wide range of operating pressures.

Manganese ANTHRA/SAND™ media when used in these filters, provides enhanced manganese removal at a cost greater lower than manganese greensand.
