Unlike other grades of sulfur impregnated carbons for mercury removal on the market today, HgFree carbons are impregnated with the S2 form of sulfur only. The carbon has a high affinity for this form of sulfur and the sulfur is uniformly distributed throughout the carbon’s pore structure, resulting in superior mercury removal performance when treating a variety of gas streams.
Independent laboratory testing of HgFree compared to other mercury adsorbents on the market today indicated improved performance in several categories:
- Overall mercury capacity
- Reduced mercury leachability in TCLP extractions
- Reduced sulfur loss at elevated temperatures
- Higher residual organic adsorption capacity
- Improved kinetics – lower residual mercury concentrations in effluent
Applications include:
HgFree carbons are extensively quality checked at our State of California certified environmental and carbon testing laboratory located in Los Angeles, CA. Siemens’ laboratory is fully equipped to provide complete quality control analyses using ASTM standard test methods in order to assure the consistent quality of all Westates® carbons.
