Liquid Phase Carbon Treatment Equipment and Systems

Siemens Water Technologies provides activated carbon adsorbers and systems to filter and remove contaminants from liquid streams for industrial, municipal or commercial applications. Our systems are permanent, hard-piped as well as options for removable adsorber equipment.

HP-Series Carbon Adsorber Systems
Siemens' HP® Series Adsorbers are ASME Code Stamped

Depending on the application specifics, we offer systems which are permanent, hard-piped as well as systems which are removable. With our removable systems, when an adsorber exchange is required, a fresh adsorber will be delivered from any one of our regional locations. The adsorber containing spent carbon is removed from the site using a roll-off or flat bed trailer and shipped to our reactivation facility where the adsorber is emptied, inspected and refilled. The spent carbon is reactivated and recycled.

For our hard-piped systems, Siemens can provide a total service package that includes utilizing OSHA trained personnel providing on-site carbon changeouts, packaging and transportation of spent carbon for recycling at our reactivation facilities, where the contaminants are thermally destroyed.

The frequency of activated carbon exchange will depend on operating parameters that affect carbon loading such as flowrate, contaminant type, carbon type and other factors. Siemens offers state-of-the-art computer modeling programs, for carbon consumption estimates and optimization of system performance.

Siemens also features Westates® activated carbon medias for liquid phase applications.

Siemens Water Technologies offers liquid phase adsorber equipment and systems for the treatment of various treatment applications.  Some of the applications we specialize in include:

Liquid Phase Adsorber Case Study

Former East Coast Manufactured Gas Plant (MGP) Seeks Remedial Solution for VOC contamination

A contractor working on behalf of site owners at a manufactured gas plant (MGP) site in the eastern US, contacted Siemens Water Technologies for assistance in design of a groundwater recovery and treatment system at that site.

Although MGP operations at this site were phased out more than 50 years ago, contaminants from the operations remained in the soil, sediments, and groundwater. The current site owner voluntarily sought to work with the state’s Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) to remediate the property’s soil and groundwater contamination.  Results of remedial investigations at the site indicated that both on- and off-site soil and groundwater were contaminated with a variety of hazardous substances including volatile organic compounds (VOCs).
