    Membrane Biological Reactor (MBR) Systems

    Membrane biological reactors also know as membrane bioreactor systems or MBRs are a unique wastewater treatment process designed for numerous municipal and industrial applications.  Membrane bioreactor systems may be used in such applications as water reuse, new housing developments, parks and resorts, retrofits, and turnkey projects.

    The need to recycle wastewater and stricter environmental regulations make an MBR system a viable solution for current and future wastewater treatment.  Siemens makes biological reactors for large municipal wastewater applications that can be fit into concrete tanks, package plants for smaller flows, new developments and and hotels as well well as a system developed for the petroleum industry to meet most refinery standards.

    MemPulse™ Membrane Bioreactor Systems
    Biological processes integrated with membrane separation is one of the fastest growing technologies in the wastewater industry.     The Petro™ MBR system is specially designed for the petroleum, petrochemical and chemical industries. It is a wastewater treatment process that combines various biological treatment processes with an integrated, immersed membrane system.

    Retrofit your treatment plant with an Integrated Membrane Bioreactor Process Upgrade Solution
    Existing wastewater installations can benefit from Siemens' MBR experience.  For example, a Membrane Bioreactor, paired with an Envirex Orbal® or vertical loop reactor (VLR®) oxidation system and aerated anoxic process, is designed for operators seeking activated sludge, advanced secondary sludge treatment, simultaneous nitrification-denitrification, biological phosphorus removal or stormwater treatment and reduced energy consumption.  Reengineering biological processes with a membrane  bioreactor system unit can reduce footprint requirements and meet strict effluent regulations.  Plants dealing with biosolids disposal issues will be interested in the Cannibal solids reduction process paired with a SmartMBR control package.
