Chloropac® Applications

Offshore Oil & Gas Production Development - Gravity base, FPSO TLP, Semi-submersible

The CHLOROPAC system is a recognized champion product in the offshore market with more installations than the total of all of its main competitors. The major oil and gas companies each operate several Chloropac packages and many have purchased more than 20 Chloropac packages each.

CHLOROPAC superlative performance, engineering excellence and long trouble-free life are generally acknowledged to be unsurpassed for this application. Electrocatalytic is extremely conscious of the need for systems which will operate safely particularly in the confines of topside facilities.

CHLOROPAC provides customers, engineers with a choice of installation in none-classified (safe) area or in electrically classified hazardous areas. Electrocatalytic is accredited by SIRA with ATEX certification for Chloropac CTE electrolysers (previously accredited with BASEEFA certification since 1984).

CHLOROPAC C.T.E. Technology is proven to be the most advanced seawater electrolyser cell design. Sodium hypochlorite, generated from seawater and electricity is a form of equivalent chlorine. Chloropac capacity is normally specified in Kg/h of equivalent chlorine.

In driving down cost Electrocatalytic uses Chloropac field experience to supply base design packages for many FPSO development projects, reducing engineering hours and elapsed time ARO.

The cost of biological fouling in water systems is a heavy one. Bio-fouling restricts cooling flow in pipe runs and reduces heat transfer across heat exchangers and condenser thereby reducing the efficiency of the system and increasing the cost of production. Chloropac will keep the cooling system free of bio fouling and maintain the efficiency of heat transfer.

Chloropac topside packages use technically superior process design for energy efficient, long term operation. Electrocatalytic engineers will be pleased to advise on equipment selection, materials, location and installation details.

CHLOROPAC produces in situ, a dilute, safe solution of sodium hypochlorite in a side steam for re injection into the lift water. This advanced technology has freed thousands of users worldwide from the cost and danger of purchasing and handling chemicals associated with other types of technologies.
