Oil-Water Separators

Separation is the process of separating liquid from solids. There are many ways to do this, including gravity separation, air flotation, and chemically assisted separation. Siemens Water Technologies offers a number of oil-water separators, including API separators, hydrocyclones and plate separators, to meet most industrial requirements.

In 1937, we partnered with the American Petroleum Institute (API) to develop the industry’s first engineered oil-water separator. Today, more than 70 years and a thousand installations later, the API oil-water separator remains the industry benchmark. Our experience in designing, building and providing primary oil/water separation is unmatched in the industry.

Our systems recover more reusable oil, require less maintenance and are safer than other systems. We continually improve and upgrade our designs to provide the highest levels of performance and meet all current regulations.

CPS Gravity Separator for Oil/Solids Removal  

The Corrugated Plate Separator (CPS) uses gravity to remove oil and solids from wastewater. It is used in industrial wastewater, industrial filtration, oil-water separation, clarification/separation, and storm water and sewer overflow applications.  The CPS oil-water separator provides an effective and economical solution for oil/solids removal. The unit’s gravity design separates light from heavy materials in a smooth, automatic flow. With more than 3,000 installations, this proven design yields consistent results.

Liquid/Liquid Hydrocyclone  

The high efficiency liquid/liquid hydrocyclone provides maximum oil-water separation efficiency, and is used in industrial process water, industrial reuse, oil-water separation, and clarification/separation applications.

The liquid/liquid hydrocyclone is one of the most advanced, yet least complicated oil-water separators available. It effectively removes free oil and grease in a compact package, at a cost far less than other types of separators. Liquid/liquid hydrocyclones are ideal for oily process water and oil-field produced water applications.

We specialize in all types of oil-water separators, including clarifiers, air flotation, inclined plate and Lamella-type separators, hydrocyclone separation systems, and more.

Lancy™ Oil-Water Separator 
 
This unit designed to remove oils and solids from wastewater by gravity. Wastewater containing oil enters the unit through the receiving compartment.  The finer oil rises and and exit the top of the CPI pack and float to the top of the unit.  The free oil is then removed by the oil weir. The unit has no moving parts.  The oil-water separator is manufactured with carbon steel basins and FRP corrugated plate packs.

Oil/Water Separation Case Study

Navajo Refinery Upgrades Wastewater Facility to Meet Clean Air Regulations

The petroleum refinery of  Navajo Refining Company, L.P., in Artesia, N.M., located on a 400-acre site in the petroleum-rich Permian Basin, recently completed an $85 million expansion and upgrade that expanded its processing capability from 60,000 barrels a day to 75,000 barrels a day. In addition, it upgraded the water treatment equipment to improve the quality of boiler feed water as well as wastewater from the facility.  The upgrade of the wastewater treatment systems will help Navajo Refining meet two U.S. Environmental Protection Agency regulations under the Clean Air Act: low-sulfur (clean fuels) emissions standards and New Source Performance Standards (NSPS) - Subpart QQQ for wastewater treatment for petroleum refineries.
