Belt Dryer

The Siemens Water Technologies belt dryer offers efficient operation in minimal space.  The belt dryer requires a minimal amount of auxiliary systems due to the low operating temperature of the entire system.

Belt Dryer

The Sludge Belt Dryer (SBD) is a convective dryer. Evaporation takes place when the biosolids come in contact with the heated air. The sludge is uniformly distributed on the entire belt width to cause uniform evaporation. The heat requirement is around 1441 BTU/lb of evaporated water. The dryer is provided in a two belt system. The belt speed is adjustable to provide varying residence times. Varying residence time in the drying zone provides the means to fine tune the product moisture to meet final use or disposal requirements. The SBD also can be fitted with a product cooling zone when needed.

The SBD provides evaporative capacities of 1,000 to 13,000 pounds of water evaporated per hour. Each system is designed to operate 24/7 if needed. The mechanically dewatered feed material can be handled within a wide range of moisture contents which in most cases exceed the range of other dryer types. Siemens can provide the mechanical dewatering systems also.

A complete system, including engineering, PLC control logic and suggested disposal or product end use, can be discussed during the development of your project.  Waste heat that may be unused at this time should be considered as the heat source. The SBD operates at a low temperature that allows for great heating flexibility.

Main Advantages:

  • Low emissions
  • Granular final product
  • Low dust
  • Low thermal requirement with possible heat recovery from low temperature waste energy sources
  • Single or multiple dryer belt models are available

A belt dryer skid system can perform thermal drying at your client’s site of mechanically dewatered material.  The system is designed to dry the material to +90% ts. The belt dryer skid unit is a full-scale production belt dryer mounted on a 40-foot skid.

The skid may be installed on a permanent basis in an existing garage area on a concrete slab.  The system is factory assembled and tested prior to site installation. Start up and operator training is also included.
