Potable Ion Exchange (PIX) Service

Potable Ion Exchange (PIX) Service utilizes ion exchange resin canisters for the removal of organic and inorganic contaminants in surface and groundwater sources to meet drinking water standards.  Siemens helps small communities and municipalities meet MCL (maximum contaminant levels) safely and effectively.

Potable Ion Exchange (PIX) Service
PIX uses select ion exchange resin and medias for potable applications

Siemens designs and maintains both permanent treatment systems or rental based installations that eliminate capital expenditure and are serviced by Siemens service personnel at the treatment location.  Through the use of specially selected ion exchange resins and adsorptive medias, these systems help to purify contaminated ground and surface waters to meet or exceed Federal guidelines for drinking water.  We capture and concentrate the contaminants and then remove the treatment media when it  exhausted.  This eliminates the need for any onsite chemical treatment and handling thereby eliminating safety and compliance concerns.

Siemens rental systems are removable canisters filled with treatment media tailored to your specific application requirements.   The water stream is processed using the ion exchange media to capture and concentrate the contaminants.  Once the resin capacity is reached, Siemens field service technicians return to the site to remove the spent ion exchange canisters and deliver fresh canisters.  The PIX media is regenerated or removed and replaced with fresh media for treatment.  Exhausted vessels are returned to our processing facility where the resin is the contaminants are either recycled, thermally-destroyed or disposed at an approved location. All metal bearing that can be recycled and recovered to reduce or eliminate re  arsenic) regeneration wastes are further processed for metal recovery - nothing goes to landfill.

Each application is examined to determine the system configuration that best meets current and future needs. The system components are selected based upon available manpower, space limitations, access limitation and the specific quality required. If needs change, our treatment systems are flexible – we can simply change the media types and/or tank size thereby saving our customers significant capital expense and eliminating the downtime associated with new equipment construction and installation.
Based on site specific needs, Siemens' treatment recommendations may include individual or a combination of technologies to treat contaminants in ground and surface waters including:
