Driving Down WWTP Operating Costs

For example, for municipalities facing average to high energy and disposal costs, Siemens offers the Cannibal® Solids Reduction System that reduces the amount of biosolids produced during biological treatment.  The numerous plants that have employed the technology in combination  with recommended aerobic processes have reduced biosolids an average of 50%.  This not only saves biosolids disposal costs, but can cut down dramatically on aeration energy demand of the plant.  The technology can be retrofitted into existing plants or be designed into new ones.  The attractive payback economics achieved at U.S. average energy and disposal costs become even more attractive when disposal costs exceed $35/wet ton and/or electricity climbs above $0.07/kwh. 

Siemens offers innovative Anaerobic treatment technologies that increase biogas production and capture.  The Crown® Disintegration System increases the gas yield from the anaerobic digester by as much as 30%. At the same time, it reduces sludge for disposal by up to 20%, thus drastically lowering disposal costs.  Siemens also offers a new Sludge Belt Dryer that efficiently uses biogas and other low grade heat sources for sludge drying.

Our portfolio includes a variety of technologies to increase energy efficiency, including Aerated Anoxic processes and SMART BNR Controls that minimize use of energy in nitrification/denitrification.  Our innovative MemPulse MBR is another energy saving technology.  But we offer more than just technology.
