Biosolids Reduction Solutions

As populations grow, municipalities are forced to find solutions for treating increased volumes of wastewater.  As more wastewater is treated, the wastewater solids separated during the treatment process create a new challenge,  what to do with the increased volume of biosolids.

Disposal of the wastewater solids is no easy task.  Municipalities have the option to incinerate, bury or further process the wastewater solids into treated biosolids.  Once treated, this recycled waste, or biosolids, can be applied to land as a fertilizer or soil amendment, saving space in landfills.

Siemens has developed a number of innovative technologies to help municipalities turn wastewater sludge in to biosolids.  These technologies turn the residuals of the wastewater treatment process into high quality Class A and Class B biosolids that are safe for land application.

More and more communities are choosing technologies to safely recycle wastewater solids by treating them and turning them into biosolids, which can be used as a fertilizer to improve and maintain productive soils and stimulate plant growth.   By recycling wastewater solids, communities are helping to save space in landfills and are encouraging the recycling of nutrient-rich wastewater solids.
